Normal data for new audiovisual test: \"THE EIKHOLT TEST\"<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This information is for those of you who wish to participate in a research study aimed at quality assuring a new audiovisual test of speech understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purpose of the programme<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of the study is to collect test results from people with normal vision and hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Data will be used to develop normal values for the test.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is responsible for the project?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project manager is Rolf Mj\u00f8nes (audiographer) from Eikholt national resource centre for deafblind people in Drammen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does participation mean?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participation is voluntary. If you participate, you will have the chance to be tested with the new Eikholt test, and the results from this test will be used to improve the quality and relevance of the test for clinical use. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The test involves looking at a screen where four people take turns saying short sentences. You are asked to repeat the sentences and are scored on how well you understand the words. Various degrees of noise will be added. The testing takes up to 60 minutes and includes a quick hearing test with pure tone audiometry (test with headphones and beeps).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Am I anonymous?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are anonymous throughout the survey. No identifying information will be collected. No personally sensitive information will be stored, only simple demographic data (age and gender). Individual results will not be published or shared with others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All participants receive a gift voucher with a value of 200,-<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practical information:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Testing takes place at the Eikholt centre for deafblind people. We are located in Drammen, more specifically at Konnerud. See map<\/a>. You can get to us by car (free parking) or bus no. 24 (the nearest stop is \"Kirkelunden\" about 3 minutes walk). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Testing will take place individually. If you want to participate, you will be contacted to arrange a time. It is possible to come both during the day and in the evening. Testing will take place from October 2025 to April 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Testing takes up to 1 hour and there will be breaks along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frequently asked questions:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Do I need to hear well to take the test?<\/strong>
This study recruits participants with normal hearing, but what is \"normal\" changes with age. All participants will be tested with standard pure tone audiometry (the pipe test) before testing begins. Please contact us if you are in doubt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I wear glasses during testing?<\/strong>
Right. You should wear the glasses you would normally wear in a normal conversation situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where should I meet up?
<\/strong>Please come to the reception in the main building (also called \"Stua\"). It is the large yellow building by Eika; look for the sliding glass door. See picture of the main entrance here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
