Haptics: Pocket Edition has secured project funding!
In collaboration with the National Federation for Combined Visual and Hearing Impairment (LSHDB) har Eikholt nylig mottatt projektstipendium til videreudvikling af appen Haptics: Pocket Edition! Stipendiet kommer fra stitelsen Dam The budget for the project is £400,000. Eikholt is very pleased that LSHDB wished to be the responsible organisation for the foundation's application.
Standardised haptic signals
Haptics: Pocket Edition, or 'Haptic in your pocket' as we say in everyday language, is an app for learning standardised haptic signals. Haptic signals are a method for conveying information through touch, usually on the upper back or forearm. Haptic signals can supplement spoken or sign language, and they can be used to obtain information about surroundings, events, moods, people, and more.
A more accessible and user-friendly app
Eikholt took over responsibility for the app from Hapti-Co in 2025, and relaunched it with a new look and new functionality to make it more accessible and user-friendly.
Today, the app is available in Norwegian and English. As of today, the app has been downloaded in more than 20 different countries. Through the project, the app will be made available in several languages.
Haptic signals together with a guide dog and at a football match
Text, images, video, and audio will also be created for haptic cues for guide dog accompaniment and haptic cues for use at football matches. Hapti-Co will assist us with this work, based on the Eikholtprojects.Haptic communication and guide dogs" and "Limitless Sporting Joy» The technical work will be carried out by another of Eikholt's partners, Sail.
Invitation to test the app

The project manager is Senior Adviser ICT at Eikholt, Thanh Tøgard. During the spring, she will invite course participants and interpreters who come to Eikholtto test the app. User testing is necessary to ensure quality and identify weaknesses and errors.
