How is the world experienced when sight and hearing are different?
How do we find our way without seeing? What does trust mean when we have to rely on others? And how can we communicate when we cannot hear?
During Research Days 2026, pupils at Konnerud School will explore how sight and hearing help us in everyday life, and what happens when these senses function differently. Through short presentations, practical tasks, and personal experiences, the pupils will learn more about our senses, communication, what trust can mean, and how people with deafblindness experience the world.

What is Research Days?
Research Days is a national festival featuring outreach and educational activities where children and adults can explore, try things out for themselves and experience research in new ways. At Eikholt, we link research to topics such as sight, hearing, communication and coping. The aim of this year’s theme is to explore what trust means, why it is important in society, and how we can nurture it – both between people and in relation to knowledge and research.

Why is Eikholt taking part?
Eikholt is accredited as a research organisation by The Research Council of NorwayAs the national resource centre for deafblindness, we work on knowledge development, professional development, and research to increase knowledge and understanding of how sight and hearing affect communication, learning, and participation in society.
We participate in professional networks and collaborate with user organisations, research communities, and other professional bodies both in Norway and internationally. This collaboration contributes to new knowledge and service development for individuals with combined vision and hearing loss.
Research Days are an important forum for sharing knowledge with children and young people. This year’s theme is trust. At Eikholt, we want to explore how trust is an important part of communication, collaboration and participation.

Trust, communication, and interaction
Through the Research Days, pupils get to explore how sight and hearing affect the way we experience the world, and what role trust plays in encounters between people.
We want the day to awaken curiosity, provide new knowledge, and contribute to a greater understanding of different ways to communicate, interact, and participate in society.
