For those who have a spouse/partner, child, sibling or parent with acquired deafblindness. As a carer, you are welcome to attend Eikholt to meet others in the same situation. The course is organised as an adaptation course for relatives, and travel and accommodation are covered by NAV.
Goals: Increase your knowledge of how combined sensory loss affects the family.
Theme/course content:
- Challenges in communication and socialising with others
- Communication delays - misunderstandings, how do we deal with them?
- How do you explain sensory loss to others?
- To be involved. Simple haptic signals, teaching and exercises.
- Worries about the future - where can I/we get support and help?
- Exchange of experience
