Digital conference for sign language interpreters 13 January 2021
The physical conference has been cancelled and will be replaced by a digital conference. Haptic communication has become an important part of many people's lives. Those who receive signals are more numerous and so are those who practise them. On this day, we want to focus on what haptic communication has become both nationally and internationally. Since the situation with Covid-19 is here and prevents practical exercises, this time we are focusing on what haptic and tactile communication does to us as people. Both interpreter users, their carers and the interpreters themselves are affected by touch and close relationships.

Course information for spring 2021
A joint intake meeting is held at Eikholt twice a year, and at the intake meeting on 30 November, the courses for the first half of 2021 were planned.

Latest news from the AV clinic - visual field meter is in place
The new instrument that is now in place at the AV clinic (clinic for audio-visual assessment and adaptation) is basically a visual field meter. This means that we can measure the size and shape of the visual field of the person being tested.

Eikholt 40 years
Today, 26 August, it is 40 years since Eikholt was officially opened by King Olav V. This was a day of celebration not only for Konnerud and Drammen, but for the whole country. Finally, people with deafblindness had their own centre for rehabilitation, training and, not least, the opportunity to meet others with deafblindness.

NAV covers the cost of a companion for people with congenital deafblindness
Finally, it has been clarified that expenses for companions/practical assistance when participating in adaptation courses for deafblind people will be covered by the National Insurance Scheme.

Family course held in beautiful summer weather!
We have just said goodbye to 10 families who visited us at Eikholt this weekend. The family course for children and young people with Usher and their families was held in beautiful summer weather.

Our colleague Jan Ove Årseth has died
Our colleague Jan Ove Årseth died suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday 17 July. He was picked up by an ambulance at his home, but his life could not be saved. This came as a shock and is terribly sad for everyone. Jan Ove was 53 years old.
