On Friday 27 January 2017, Ann-Britt Johansson from Eikholt National Resource Centre for Deafblindness handed in her doctoral thesis at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. It is entitled "See and hear me"

Eikholt is organising a professional conference with the theme: "Working with visual and hearing impairment". The date and time for this conference is Thursday 19 January from 10:00 to 16:00. Registration deadline 15 December.

New national recommendations for detecting and treating hearing loss in young children

The Norwegian Directorate of Health has issued new recommendations for newborn hearing screening and the assessment and treatment of hearing loss in young children. The recommendations are intended to help detect hearing loss early and provide help with stimulating hearing and developing language.

Project: Archery for the blind

Davood Nematinia is an archer and club coach in Hvalstad, as well as team leader for Norway at representative events. He has contributed to Eikholt's "network group for men" as an instructor for participants with vision loss. He is now working on a new project where you have the chance to participate!

NKCDB with article series about Eikholt

The National Knowledge Centre for Deafblind Issues has visited Eikholt and produced a series of articles on the theme of "the interaction between sight and hearing". The series contains four articles with different focuses, including interviews with Magnus Tollefsrud, Bente Enggrav and Ann-Britt Johansson.

Rolf Lund appointed as researcher at Eikholt

Rolf Lund has been appointed to a 50 % contract position as special advisor/researcher. Rolf took up the position on 1 January 2016. The main focus of the position will be project management, systematic documentation and publishing.

TEDx talk about Usher syndrome

Machteld Cossee, a Dutch ambassador for the interest organisation Ushersyndroom.nl. She gave the talk: "What you see is not always what it is" at the TEDx conference in Breda.

Two new course programmes in 2016

We would like to draw your attention to two new course offerings in 2016: "Sensuous Food" in two parts, and "Mindful Presence/Yoga" in three parts. The application deadline for both courses is 10 January.

Health sports course November 2015

The health sports courses at Eikholt are organised to be the best possible learning arena for students at the three educational institutions for sign language and interpreting education in Norway: Sør-Trøndelag University College, Bergen University College and Oslo and Akershus University College. Students at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, Department of Physical Activity and Health, are responsible for the training programme.
