Kari Jokstad has been appointed head of research at Eikholt
Kari Jokstad is employed in a newly created position as head of research at Eikholt. If you look up her name, you'll find her alongside words like coping, user participation and everyday rehabilitation. Perhaps not surprising, given that she has a background as a physiotherapist and a PhD in person-centred rehabilitation. In this portrait interview, you'll get to know Kari and her ambitions as head of research at Eikholt.

Bills need to be paid, meetings with colleagues need to be organised, food needs to be prepared. Everyday life has to be lived, but two of your senses are severely reduced or gone. That takes energy, a lot of energy! This calls for other strategies - new ways of solving everyday problems.

Eikholt is concerned that deafblind people's right to an interpreter is not being realised
We realise that the ongoing action among freelance interpreters has major consequences for deafblind people. The actions have also led to the cancellation of adaptation courses at Eikholt because users have not received interpreters.

Now you can take part in important research on hearing and mental health
All hearing impaired and deaf people can now contribute to a major survey on mental health. The knowledge gained from the "PsykHør" project will be used to improve health services - and provide important insights into living with hearing impairment.

"We, society and systems" - course with Magne and Sølvi Marie
In 2024, a new themed course has been set up with the title "We, society and the system". Magne Bolme and Sølvi Marie Risøy will guide the participants safely through this course, together with Romy Regina Prochow, senior advisor for vision and mobility at Eikholt. The deadline to apply is already 1 November.

The Eikholt test has been launched
The day finally came for the launch of the EIkholt test. This took place at this year's Eikholt conference with the theme "Sight and hearing for an active everyday life". Mayor of Drammen Monica Myrvold Berg opened the conference and Rolf Mjønes himself provided an introduction to the test for the audience both in the hall and digitally.

Good results from this year's user survey
During January-February this year, Eikholt conducted a user survey for the second time. On behalf of Eikholt, the company B2S Research was responsible for this. A total of 143 users who had received services during the past six months were invited to respond. The response rate ended at 44 %, which is good for this type of survey.
