The political system – We and the world

Who is the course suitable for

This course is for you who have a combined sight and hearing impairment, and who want increased insight and knowledge about the political system in Norway and Norway's relationship with the rest of the world.

The course is suitable for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of Norwegian democracy, and for participants with an interest in politics, society and the world around us. The course is suitable both for those who have experience in politics, and for those who do not know much beforehand, but want to learn.

Course objectives and content

After completing the course, the aim is for you to know how the Storting works and be familiar with election processes. You will know a fair bit about the EU and EEA, NATO and a range of other things that give you a little more confidence and competence to participate in and understand the society around us.

The course provides an introduction to the Norwegian political system, how decisions are made, and how Norway relates to international agreements and institutions. In other words: We discuss politics, the EU, Ukraine, Russia, Trump, and other current events in the news. There will be group work, role-play, and many other fun forms of learning.
